NHG Is Proud Of Our Psychology Teams!

NHG Polyclinics (NHGP) Health and Mind Service (HMS) ensures that individuals struggling with mental health or stress-related difficulties have access to psychological care at all polyclinics. NHGP Psychologists, alongside with Family Physicians, Nurses and other Allied Health Professionals, also engage in targeted screening and intervention, such as early detection and management of mental health conditions for patients with chronic illness, and postnatal depression for new mothers.

Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) Department of Psychology recognises the importance of early access to psychological care. Early touchpoints help patients optimise coping and adjustment and prevent worsening of psychological issues. Aligned with the growth and development of Central Region Trauma Services, a specialised Trauma Psychology clinic has been set up to streamline care for trauma patients.

At Institute of Mental Health (IMH), the outpatient Psychological Service offers 4 types of psychological services to cater to different needs and settings (group, individual, telehealth, community). The aim is to improve accessibility to psychological services. Aligned with their goal to improve access to care, President’s Challenge and IMH has also launched Supporting Youth in Community (SYiNC), boosting psycho-social support for youths in the vicinity of their homes. To deepen clinical expertise, psychology teams in IMH work collaboratively with different research bodies, universities and healthcare professionals to conduct research and studies, such as the Bergen 4-Day Treatment Programme for OCD and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis through Advanced Practiced Nurses.

Psychologists also play essential roles in public and workplace health promotion.
