NHG Cares Mobile App Privacy Policy

National Healthcare Group Pte Ltd (referred to as "NHG", "us", "we" or "our" in this policy) are committed to protecting the rights and privacy of individuals in accordance with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (the "PDPA").

This policy ("Privacy Policy") describes how we may collect, use, disclose, process and manage your personal data in the course of our business, including our digital services and products such as mobile applications. This Privacy Policy applies to any individual's personal data which is in our possession or under our control.

  1. By providing us with your personal data, you consent to our collection, use, and disclosure (including transfer) of your personal data in accordance with this NHG Cares App Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy"). Please DO NOT provide us with any personal data if you do not accept this Privacy Policy.  "Personal data" has the meaning as defined in the PDPA.

  2. We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time and will make available the updated Privacy Policy in the NHG Cares App (defined below). The updated Privacy Policy will supersede earlier versions and will apply to personal data provided to us previously. Each time you use this App and any updates, upgrades, new versions, documentation, and content and services provided by or through this App (collectively referred to as the "NHG Cares App"), or contact, interact or transact with us, you acknowledge and agree that the latest version of this Privacy Policy shall apply.  This Privacy Policy shall be read in conjunction with the NHG Cares App Terms of Use.

  3. If you provide us with another person's personal data (including your family members), you warrant that: 

a) you are authorised to act on his/her behalf; and

b) he/she accepts that his/her personal data will be subject to this Privacy Policy (as amended from time to time).

  1. We may collect, use and disclose the personal data received from you for the purposes listed below and any other related or associated purposes (collectively the "Purposes"): 

a) setting up your account with us and managing your use and access of the NHG Cares App;

b) providing you or other users with the services or functions of the NHG Cares App including without limitation to maintain your general health record, to make, amend or review your appointments with any of our specialist outpatient clinics, to order medicines; 

c) enabling you to view and pay your outstanding medical bills through NHG Cares App; 

d) managing your relationship with us; 

e) transfer to computer systems owned, operated and/or managed by third parties[1] such as HealthHub, SingPass, the National Electronic Health Record (NEHR) system, as well as the SingHealth's Online Appointment System and NUHS's Polyclinics Online Appointment System, in order to provide you with the services and functions of the NHG Cares App; 

f) assisting you with your enquiries; 

g) obtaining feedback; 

h) accounting, risk management and record keeping; 

i) informing you about service upgrades and updates; 

j) performing network or service enhancement; 

k) carrying out research, planning and statistical analysis, including satisfaction surveys to improve and personalise our services to you and develop new products and services;

l) personalising our services and recommending content related to our services and your health;

m) offering to you rewards and loyalty programs which you may qualify for; 

n) enabling you to participate in and to receive information regarding the rewards and loyalty programs which you may qualify for;

o) sending you information on promotions by our partners or invitations to events; and/or

p) purposes which are reasonably related to the aforesaid.

  1. When you provide us with personal data:

a) We may access, use or disclose your personal data:

i. without your express or informed consent if such access, use or disclosure is permitted by the PDPA, as may be clarified by written guidance issued by the Personal Data Protection Commission from time to time, or and other any written law;

ii. if it falls within one of the purposes which consent is deemed under the Personal Data Protection notification found here; or

b) We may from time to time disclose your personal data to our agents who process data on our behalf and act as our data intermediaries. In that event, these agents are only permitted to use and process the personal data for our purposes, and not for other purposes.

  1. To safeguard your personal data, all electronic storage and transmission of personal data is secured with appropriate security technologies.

  2. We also may collect the following information if you choose to provide us with access or permission:
    a) Mobile Device Access. We may request access or permission to certain features from your mobile device, including your mobile device’s Bluetooth, calendar, camera, microphone, sensors, storage and other features. If you wish to change our access or permission, you may do so in your device’s settings.

    b) Push Notification. We may request to send you push notifications regarding your account or certain features of the app. If you wish to opt out from receiving these types of communications, you may turn them off in your device’s settings.

    c) Bluetooth Devices. To read health parameters for tracking and syncing of health activities.

    d) Camera. Photos may be accessed to set up your user profile avatar and augmented reality (AR) navigation.

    e) Phone State. This data is used for device identification and analysis of app usage only. Any data related to calls and phone number remains in the phone and is not being collected for any other usage.

    f) Audio Visual Files. Read and write files to load app features, content and play audio during exercises, for better user experience.​​

    g) Activity Recognition. Read health parameters (eg; Step Count, Weight) from Google Fit and Health Kit for tracking and syncing of health activities.

    ​​h) GPS Location. To read your exercise activity parameters and calculate total distance achieved.​​

  3. The​ App may contain links to other websites or applications whose data protection and privacy practices may differ from ours. We are not responsible for the content and privacy practices of these other websites or applications and encourage you to review the privacy policies or notices of those websites or applications.

  4.  We may collect and store information (including Personal Data) locally on your device using mechanisms such as application data caches. Such information may include your self-added lifestyle goals, targets and reminders. We retain personal data as may be required for legal or business purposes. We will take reasonable steps to dispose or anonymise personal data that is no longer needed for such purposes. With regard to medical data that we process, we will retain medical records in accordance with applicable law and regulations, including guidelines prescribed by the Ministry of Health, and any existing contractual agreements.​

  5. Due to the nature of the NHG Cares App, there is an inherent risk of wrongful, illegal or unauthorised access by third parties to your account(s) and/or handheld/mobile device(s). You hereby acknowledge and agree to accept the risk of such wrongful, illegal or unauthorised access and hereby agree that NHG shall not be liable for any loss or damage howsoever arising from such wrongful, illegal or unauthorised access.

[1] These third parties may include, but are not limited to, government agencies such as the Ministry of Health, Government Technology Agency, other public healthcare clusters such as Singapore Health Services Pte Ltd (“SingHealth”) and National University Health System Pte Ltd (“NUHS”), as well as their appointed service or platform operators.
