​Professor John Abisheganaden was appointed Director and Senior Consultant, HSOR on 1st October 2023. He holds a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh UK; a MMED (Internal Medicine) from NUS Singapore, as well as a FAMS (Respiratory Med) from Academy of Medicine Singapore.  He leads the HSOR team in population decision analytics and operations research, implementation and outcomes evaluation, as well as health system performance and sustainability. He is also Chair of NHG Respiratory Health Steering Committee, and an Advisor to the NHG Value-Based Care Workgroup.​

Dr Gary Ang Yee
MBBS, MPH, Dip (Family Med), GDMH, DIP (Family Practice Dermatology)
Consultant (Public Health)
 
Dr Ang Yee Gary obtained his MBBS from NUS in 2006, MPH, NUS in 2011 and completed his public health residency in 2011. He has diplomas in accounting & finance, family medicine, mental health, family practice (Dermatology), fund management and administration. He is currently a Nanyang Fellow MBA candidate with NTU. He received the Clinician Leadership in Research award in 2012, NHG CMTI Clinician Innovatory Preparatory Program in 2023 and has been a health services researcher since 2011. Currently, he has an additional role in promoting workplace health. He has also been appointed as an academic editor for PLOS ONE in 2023. His recent projects are healthcare utilization management, chatbot for patient education in eczema, improving treatment adherence via artificial intelligence and behavioural science, addressing modifiable risk factors in the workplace.

Dr Cheng San Chye
BSc (Hons), EdM, MSc, EdD (Doctor of Education)
Head of Social & Behavioural Sciences Outcomes Research

San Chye conducts social and behavioural sciences research, adopting a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods to generate insights to help foster health and improve healthcare. He holds a Doctor of Education and a Master of Science in Applied Statistics. Prior to joining NHG, he worked at the Institute for Adult Learning where he was involved in the OECD's Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC).​

Eric Chua Siang Seng

Eric has worked on a variety of corporate events including the Annual Healthcare Humanity Awards, Senior Management Meetings as well as Board Retreats. Prior to joining NHG, he was an experienced Project Management and Marketing Specialist in Multinational Corporations for more than 7 years.

 

               



Ge Lixia

Senior Research Analyst

Lixia is currently involved in population health evaluation and quality of care projects. She has been involved in research teams spanning various industries such as healthcare, education and sports science. Prior to joining NHG, she conducted various clinical oncology research at National University of Singapore. Her research interests include community health, nutrition, clinical research and epidemiology.



Joey Ha Wei Yee

Joey graduated in Economics (Specialisation in Applied and Policy Economics) from NUS. Prior to her employment in NHG-HSOR, Joey was involved in projects evaluating costs and other health-related outcomes for research studies.

Dr Joseph Antonio D Molina
MD, MSc (Public Health)
Head of Implementation & Outcomes

Joseph is a medical doctor with graduate training in epidemiology and public health. He has been involved in training activities, evaluation of health programs and services, as well as health technology assessments. He concurrently has a teaching appointment at the NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Prior to joining NHG, he was Assistant Professor of Preventive Medicine and was a member of the medical staff executive committee of St Luke’s Medical Center in the Philippines.












 



            
Dr Charmaine Krishnasamy

Principal Research Analyst

Charmaine enjoys conducting research pertaining to social and behavioural outcomes. She has experience in health professions education research related to better understanding feedback from students, clinicians and stakeholders for the improvement of work and learning environments, and population health research. She also previously practised as an occupational therapist; and has taught and supervised undergraduate occupational therapy students in Singapore and Australia and completed a series of research projects concerned with the occupations and community mobility needs of older persons in both countries, and standardisation of an aspect of a driver assessment tool.​ ​

Dr Mary Lee
BA, MA (English Language), PhD (Communications)
Principal Research Analyst

Mary Lee is a researcher in population health and health professions education, with special interest in investigating the role of communication in advancing or impeding interprofessional collaboration and learning, self-management in chronic disease and the social determinants of health. Her projects include exploring the lived experiences of people with type 2 diabetes, and interprofessional communication among healthcare professionals. She takes an interpretivist stance in her research. Her research has been published in the Journal of Interprofessional Care, International Wound Journal, Discovering Social Science & Health among others. 



Dr Li Ruijie
Msc (Occupational Theraphy)
Principal Research Analyst
                 

Ruijie worked as an occupational therapist prior to joining NHG as a research analyst. He has experience working in both the acute and community healthcare settings in Singapore. Ruijie obtained his Masters in Hong Kong and has since worked on numerous research projects aimed at documenting and improving healthcare related outcomes both in Hong Kong and locally. His research interests include assessing psychometric properties of instruments and using various quantitative and qualitative methods in analysis and interpretation of the data collected in studies.

 









               

                 
Loo May Eng
BSc (Physics, Hons- 2nd Upper), MA (English Language)
Senior Research Analyst

May Eng did her Master of Arts in English Language and Bachelor of Science in Physics at the National University of Singapore. During her postgraduate studies, she focused on sociolinguistics and researched on language use in society.  In NHG, she has worked on research projects relating to health professions education and population health. May Eng believes that novel yet rigorous research in healthcare contributes to improving health and patient outcomes. To this end, she takes a pragmatist approach to research, utilising a variety of methods depending on the research questions and aims.  ​

Dr Meng Fanwen
MSc (Operations Research), PhD (Operations Research)

Fanwen completed his PhD programme in operations research at the NUS. Prior to joining NHG, he worked in NUS and the University of Southampton in UK. His recent research interests extend to capacity planning, resource allocation and scheduling in hospital, logistics in healthcare delivery system and dynamic treatment regimes.

 

 

            




Sheryl Ng Hui Xian

Sheryl H.X. Ng holds a Master of Public Health (Specialization in Epidemiology and Quantitative Methods) from the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), National University of Singapore (NUS). Prior to joining NHG, she worked on Electronic Medical Record (EMR) data and provided statistical and public health expertise in the National University Health System (NUHS). She has also provided biostatistics support to research projects in SSHSPH on physical activity and stroke. Her research interests include longitudinal data analysis and health service utilization patterns of geriatric populations.








 

               

 


Ng Siok Leng

Assistant Director

Siok Leng is the project manager for the Population Health Data Mart (PHDM), which is a multi-phase project to support NHG’s transformation journey in the Healthier SG (HSG) implementation. She devises and implements yearly workplans for the project, with resource planning and prioritization. Riding on the PHDM, she facilitates the development of HSG indicators. To ensure data protection and data security of PHDM, she implements the user and data governance policy for PHDM. Prior to joining NHG, she was a trained educator and a lead assessment specialist. She was awarded the National Day Award (Commendation Medal) in 2019.  



Dr Michelle Jessica Pereira
PhD, MPhty, BPhty (Hons I)
Principal Research Analyst
                 

Michelle has a PhD in applied health economics. She is also a qualified physiotherapist, with postgraduate training (sports physiotherapy), who has practiced in a variety of settings in both Singapore and Australia. Her current portfolio at NHG-HSOR is focused on economic evaluations of health interventions for a variety of patient populations in Singapore. 

 

 

               

​Palvannan Kannapiran
BEng (Mechanical Engineering), MEng (Industrial & Systems Engineering)
Head of Data Science & Operations Research (DSOR)
                 

Palvannan has developed analytical decision models to support healthcare decision making. Starting from operations analysis and capacity planning (e.g. TTSH ICH beds), he has moved to MRSA disease modeling and population health analysis using databases. He is currently interested in using Large Language Models to increase productivity.

Palvinder Kaur graduated from NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health with a Masters in Public Health. She is currently working on health programme/service evaluation. Prior to joining NHG, she was with the Infectious Disease Research Laboratory, CDC TTSH doing HIV-1 Research.

 

 

Christina Chieh Pann Pei

Christina is involved in several community projects, and handles research related administrations in HSOR. Prior to her employment in NHG-HSOR, Christina worked as an Executive (Operations) and Research Assistant in various community healthcare related projects.

Reuben Ong Rong Ji

Prior to his employment at NHG-HSOR, Reuben was working on psychology-business research as a research assistant at Nanyang Technological University. His current research interests lies in the field of clinical neuropsychology and includes neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia, traumatic brain injury and their impact on behavioral outcomes.

 

 

               

Dr Sun Yan
MSc (Medical Informatics), PhD (Machine Learning)

Dr Sun Yan has published widely in peer-reviewed medical journals. She has also been awarded a few national grants on developing disease prediction models as well as evaluating the cost and effectiveness of various screening strategies for infectious diseases (MRSA colonization, carbapenemase-producing gram negative bacteria (CPGNB)) and diabetes related complications (diabetic retinopathy and diabetic foot ulcerations etc.). Her current research interests focus on development and implementation of healthcare solutions leveraging on AI & big data analytics, microsimulation for cost effectiveness analysis and value-based care, etc.

 

 

          


Jasmine Tan Hwee Ling

Jasmine is an executive assistant for HSOR. She handles the administrative matters in HSOR, including finance, human resource and IT matters. Prior to joining NHG, Jasmine was an experienced Finance Specialist in multinational corporation for more than 15 years.



Dr Aidan Lyanzhiang Tan

​Dr Tan is a public health specialist with graduate training in family medicine and occupational health. His work includes acute and chronic disease epidemiology and evidence synthesis. He also is involved in health programme and service evaluations.​

Chai Hoon is part of the team tasked with overseeing and managing the Population Health Data Mart (PHDM). Prior to joining HNG, she accumulated 7 years of experience implementing Balanced Scorecard methodologies for performance management and management reporting in the public healthcare industry.
                 



 

               

Teow Kiok Liang

Senior Principal Research Analyst

Kiok Liang has worked on projects on the optimisation of hospital work processes for both outpatient and inpatient settings, and projections of national healthcare demands. He is on part time secondment to Ministry of Health. Prior to joining NHG, he was with the Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA). Kiok Liang’s key research interests include operations research, data mining, and health services planning.

 

 

               

 


​Dr Yap Chun Wei

Chun Wei has worked as a principal investigator on many clinical informatics projects, particularly in the areas of oncology and chronic kidney disease. He has experience with the development of clinical decision support tools to aid in the individualization of therapy. His current research interest is in predictive analytics. Prior to joining NHG, Chun Wei worked as an Assistant Professor in Department of Pharmacy, National University of Singapore.

 

               

 

 

Dr Yip Wan Fen
PhD (Ophthalmology), BSc (Hons) in Optometry
Principal Research Analyst
                 

WanFen is a clinically trained-optometrist (allied health) with PhD training in ophthalmology and ocular epidemiology (National University of Singapore). Her research focus are in ophthalmology, epidemiology, chronic systemic diseases (hypertension, diabetes), and related target organ damage and mortality. Her notable publications include 1) Joint Effect of Early Microvascular Damage in Eye & Kidney on Risk of Cardiovascular Events, 2) Retinal microvascular abnormalities and risk of renal failure in Asian populations, 3) Emerging trends in diabetic retinopathy epidemiology. In her current role, she is involved in the designing and planning of health services research studies.

 

 

Dr Zhu Zhecheng

Zhecheng holds a PhD in Industrial & Systems Engineering from NUS. His research area is applied optimisation and discrete event simulation. He has project experience in patient flow simulation, appointment scheduling, workload projection and data visualization, etc.
