Physiotherapists aim to help people regain mobility and physical independence through specialised physical examinations and tailored physical therapy. The Physiotherapy team provides a wide range of services at various stages of recover, from acute-injury, post-surgery management to community rehabilitation. Physiotherapists may specialise in different areas such as musculoskeletal, sports medicine and rehabilitation medicine. 

How Do I Become a Physiotherapist

You will require the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy)
Graduates with other qualifications such as Diploma in Physiotherapy may also be considered.

The institutions where you can attain the qualifications are:
  • ​Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)
  • Recognised overseas institutions

NHG Is Proud of Our Physiotherapy Teams!

Since 2022, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) Physiotherapists have successfully pioneered Singapore's first-of-its-kind Advanced Scope Physiotherapy Practice at the Emergency Department (ED). With order rights for medical imaging and direct access, Advanced Practice Physiotherapists (APPs) at the ED can provide earlier therapy to patients with musculoskeletal conditions.

National Healthcare Group Polyclinics (NHGP) has started the Rapid Assessment and Physiotherapy for patients In neeD (RAPID) service to provide faster access to effective musculoskeletal therapy at the polyclinics for patients with severe pain and impairments. NHGP Triage Physiotherapists are poised to be First Contact Practitioners to assess patients presenting with musculoskeletal conditions. In addition, alongside with other healthcare professionals, NHGP Physiotherapists activate patients to move and exercise safely in NHGP’s signature Lighter Life group weight management programme for patients with diabetes and hypertension


​The Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) Physiotherapy team works tirelessly to meet the demands for end-to-end care of residents in the north. The team continues to expand support to the Emergency Department, Short Stay Surgical Service, and even implemented a fast track acute-to-community service for patients who have underwent total knee replacement surgeries. At Yishun Community Hospital (YCH), Physiotherapists adapt to the needs of patients who are transferred directly from the ED and learn to manage more acutely unwell patients.​

Physiotherapy care has extended well beyond the confines of single specialised clinics. As part of a weight-management project, the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) ​ Physiotherapy team has partnered with the Jane Goodall Institute of Singapore to bring long-stay patients on nature walks around Singapore, supporting both their physical and mental well being.

With the expansion of our care and services in NHG, the Woodlands Health (WH) Physiotherapy team has been busy building the team to gear up for the new hospital opening. They have been actively connecting with community partners and empowering their health coaches to provide seamless care within and beyond the WH campus.
