A Diagnostic Radiographer is a healthcare professional responsible for producing high-quality images of the inside of the body​​​​​​​​​ using various imaging techniques such as X-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasound. ​These images aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries. Diagnostic Radiographers work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and patient care.​​

How Do I Become a Diagnostic Radiographer?​

To become a Diagnostic Radiographer, one typically needs to complete a Bachelor's degree in Radiography or Medical Imaging. You will require the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Radiography

The institution where you can attain the qualifications are:

  • ​​Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)
  • Recognised overseas institutions 

Upon completion of the relevant program, aspiring Diagnostic Radiographers must register with the Allied Health Professional Committee (AHPC) in Singapore. Registration requires meeting specific criteria, including education and training requirements, as well as adherence to professional standards and ethics.​​

Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) offers a dynamic environment for Diagnostic Radiographers with state-of-the-art equipment and a wide range of imaging modalities. In the newly opened Integrated Care Hub (ICH), Diagnostic Radiographers play a key role in integrating care and diagnostics services in a patient’s rehabilitation and recovery journey. With dedicated housing X-ray, ultrasound and fluoroscopy services set up in ICH, patients in the community now receive quick and accurate assessments without the need to visit the TTSH radiology department. 


As one of Singapore's newest and largest healthcare complexes, Woodlands Health (WH) provides Diagnostic Radiographers with access to cutting-edge technology and facilities. Radiographers at WH play a crucial role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services to patients from diverse backgrounds. The team actively connects with community partners o provide seamless care within and beyond the WH campus.​

Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) offers a collaborative and patient-centered work environment for Diagnostic Radiographers. Radiographers at KTPH have opportunities to work across various imaging modalities and participate in research initiatives aimed at improving patient care. In KTPH, a team comprising of a Radiologist and Magnetic Resonance (MR) Radiographers successfully implemented a set of improved MRI cranial nerves protocols that reduced scan times and enhanced communication between Radiographers and Radiologists. The quality improvement project won first place at Yishun Health’s Kaizen Festival 2023, and demonstrated the importance of continuous improvement and cross collaborations in our healthcare setting.


National Healthcare Group Diagnostic (NHGD)​ is committed to delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services across its network of healthcare facilities. In commemoration of World Osteoporosis Day 2023, NHGD Radiographers led a public outreach programme on 20 Oct 2023 to spread awareness on Osteoporosis and bone health. Radiographers play a key role in the detection of Osteoporosis by ensuring an accurate bone mineral density scans. Alongside with NHGP Physiotherapists and Dietitians, the NHGD Radiography team engaged more than 100 patients and residents, to advocate the importance of prevention, early detection and management. ​
