Leadership and communication skills for facilitating inter-professional and collaborative practice is key to building the regional health system (RHS) that we envisage. From mid-2014 through to early 2015, our senior management and educators forming the curriculum development team laboured hard to put together the NHG Inter-Professional Leadership Programme (IPLP).

The pilot run of this new five-day programme was launched and conducted in two blocks; from 30 March to 1 April 2015 and from 20 to 21 May 2015. This was attended by 32 staff from across all professions and all NHG institutions.

IPLP seeks to provide a platform for our colleagues to learn from and learn with each other in enhancing their leadership competencies as an individual leader, a team leader and a leader in the RHS, for creating effective inter-professional collaboration and building social capital for driving change across the healthcare system and community.
